About Our School

Malcolm X Shabazz High School, is a Middle States Accredited four-year comprehensive public high school. Founded as South Side High School in 1914, the school was renamed in 1972 in memory of Malcolm X Shabazz.

Unique Fact

Malcolm X Shabazz High School stands out for its deep commitment to preparing students for life beyond the classroom. Through innovative partnerships with Lincoln tech, the Aviation Institute of Maintenance, and our Cosmetology program, students gain hands-on experience in high-demand fields while building the technical skills to thrive in college and careers. These opportunities are strengthened by collaborations in local businesses and organizations that ensure real-word learning is at the core of our mission. In addition, Shabazz continues to build on its proud athletic tradition-recently graduating a scholar-athlete now attending Stanford University, with another Bulldog already on the path to follow. At Malcolm X Shabazz, academic preparation, career readiness, and athletic excellence come together to create a truly unique experience for our students.
