About Our School

Lafayette Street School is the oldest continuously operated public school in the state of New Jersey. It opened its doors in 1848 and in 2022-23 school year, we will celebrate 175 years servicing the community. We are a high performing PreK-8 grade school situated in the heart of the Ironbound. We strive to provide a rigorous standard based curriculum focused on students and their individual needs.
